Sowing Oats Peas and vetch into clover stubble

This week saw another whole crop forage sown at EF Chadfield based in Cubley Nr Ashbourne, Derbyshire. By kind permission of JD Leavesley, the crop was sown with their 4m Mzuri strip till drill.

The clover has provided a nice mulch and we hope this will continue grow with the crop, this has created a nice foundation to possibly drill winter oats or Barley straight into the stubble.

The crop was sown at 90Kg/Acre and once through will be treated with a foliar nutrition package to help boost biomass of the crop.

Farmer, Sam Chadfield was very pleased with the conditions that the drill was placing the seed and commented on how well the efficiency was.

It is really exciting to see how this crop will perform by establishing it this way, We have already had great success in the quality of the forage previously which has given us a high quality forage to feed to our dairy cows which Dave then tweaks accordingly to give a well balanced feed ration
